The government of the Czech Republic has announced postgraduate scholarship opportunities to international students from selected countries. This is a massive opportunity to study in Europe for those who wish to have a postgraduate degree.

The Czech Republic boasts a long-standing tradition of supporting education for students from developing countries. Since the late 1950s, over 20,000 individuals have benefitted from government scholarships to pursue studies at Czech universities.

This commitment to knowledge sharing continues today. Government scholarships for Czech universities are overseen by Resolution No. 77/2019, a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Ministry of Health.

The scholarships are dedicated solely to promoting the studies of foreign nationals from developing and specific third countries. Neither a citizen of the Czech Republic, nor a citizen of the European Union, nor any other foreign national with a permanent residence permit in the territory of the Czech Republic may, therefore, apply for a scholarship.

The Department of Biological Sciences at the University of New Brunswick is calling on Prospective Honours BSc, MSc and PhD students who are interested in doing collaborative research work in one of their labs headed by Dr Alex Zimmer to send their applications immediately.

The Zimmer lab in Saint John focuses on the physiological mechanisms that aquatic organisms, primarily fishes, employ to cope with environmental change and environmental extremes. They study the physiological responses to changes in salinity, freshwater acidification, pollution, and other environmentally relevant stressors. In particular, the group seeks to understand the underlying mechanisms governing these physiological responses using a wide variety of experimental approaches. The GREEN-STEM postgraduate scholarships (funded by the European Union) is calling on eligible female African students to apply for its Master’s and PhD scholarships.

GREEN-STEM scholarships will empower up to 92 young talents, students and staff to experience intra-Africa mobility in the partner institution from short to long term. The first call is open now to women for full programs in one of the green-stem partner universities. The Flinders International Postgraduate Research Scholarships (FIPRS) were established to support students undertaking a Higher Degree by Research (HDR) program. The Scholarships are funded by the University and up to 4 scholarships will be awarded annually. Due to the limited number of scholarships available, this scholarship is highly competitive.

The Flinders International Research Scholarship (FIPRS) is a scholarship specifically intended to support international students that cover international tuition fees and also provide a stipend.

The FIPRS is awarded to candidates who demonstrate outstanding aptitude for independent research, academic merit, academic research training and research indicators and performance.

The scholarship is tenable for up to three years for a Research Doctorate and up to two years for a Research Masters degree. Successful applicants are required to undertake full-time study and must be commencing a higher degree by research in Australia for the first time.

Awards will only be available to those who:

• Who are a citizen of any overseas country except New Zealand, and do not hold Australian citizenship, Australian permanent resident status or New Zealand citizenship; and
• Intend to commence full-time study for a higher degree by research in Australia for the first time, in the year for which the award is to be offered. Students who commenced their higher degree by research in the previous year but who, due to the timing of their application for admission and subsequent enrolment, were unable to apply for a FIPRS in that year, or, commenced a higher degree by research and terminated that enrolment within six months of commencement, may be considered; and
• Intend to enrol in an area of research concentration.  These are areas in which the University has particular strength, has concentrated its research resources has attracted external funding; and
• Satisfy all entry requirements for a higher degree by research, including the English proficiency levels by the English Language Proficiency Requirements for HDR Candidature

Benefits of the Scholarship

• The FIPRS pays the international student tuition fees charged by Flinders University for a research higher degree.
• In addition, a stipend provides the recipient with a generous living allowance paid at the rate of $33,990 per annum (2024 rate). It is tax-exempt and indexed annually.
• A FIPRS student who moves to Adelaide from overseas is eligible for an establishment allowance (after arrival at Flinders) of up to $1,485 to assist with relocation costs and airfares, provided receipts can be produced by the student.
