Arizona State University is currently accepting applications from African students for the Innovation and Technology Scholarship (funded by the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program) at the University.

In partnership with the Mastercard Foundation, Arizona State University will provide a 9-month comprehensive academic and practical training in artificial intelligence (AI) and business for selected Mastercard Foundation Scholars. The Program seeks to cultivate leadership, entrepreneurship and AI technical skills, enabling students to become AI leaders equipped to tackle challenges in Africa and around the globe. 5 Scholarships are available for students admitted for the 2024/2025 academic year, which will cover the full tuition fees, expenses for accommodation, and comprehensive support. On top of financial support, Scholars will participate in activities as part of the wider Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at Arizona State University, including leadership curriculum, individual mentorship, and other events and programming. • Completion of a Master’s degree in a relevant discipline with a minimum CGPA of 3.25 out of 4.0 or equivalent from a reputable accredited institution.
• A minimum level of English proficiency in the form of either:
• iBT TOEFL (internet-based test) score of 91 or equivalent, or
• Overall academic IELTS score of 6.5, or
• 1550 EmSAT English score
• A minimum quantitative score of 150 in the general Graduate Record Examination (GRE). Applicants must attempt all three sections of the GRE.
• A minimum of two referee recommendations (provided via online form).
• Statement of purpose (500-1,000 words).
• Research statement (500-1,000 words).
• Admission interview.

Required Documents to be Submitted

1. Certified copy of Bachelor’s/Master’s degree certificate (as applicable)
2. Equivalency certificate issued by the UAE Ministry of Education for applicants who have graduated from institutions outside of the UAE. To apply for your Equivalency Certificate, visit the UAE Ministry of Education Equivalency Certificate page and start the process as soon as possible as it is a lengthy process.
3. Official school transcript showing the grading scale.
4. English language proficiency score certificate (IELTS, TOEFL, or EmSAT).
5. Official TOEFL score reports can be sent directly by your institution to Khalifa University of Science and Technology using the institutional TOEFL code 0960.
6. Graduate Record Examination (GRE) score report. Official score reports can be sent directly to Khalifa University of Science and Technology using the institutional GRE code 0822.
7. Detailed Curriculum Vitae (CV).
8. Statement of Purpose (500 to 1,000 words).
9. Passport-style photograph on a white background.
10. Copy of valid passport. International applicants who reside in the UAE should also upload a clear copy of their valid UAE visa.
11. Copy of Family Book (Khulasat Al Qaid). This is required for UAE National applicants only.
12. Valid UAE national ID card (for national and international applicants currently residing in the UAE).
13. Statement of Purpose (500-1,000 words).
14. Research Statement (500 to 1,000 words). This is for PhD applicants only.
