Postgraduate Scholarships for International Students at Khalifa University of Science and Technology, UAE 2024—Fully Funded

Khalifa University of Science and Technology is calling on international students with strong academic records to apply for its postgraduate scholarship programmes. These scholarships are offered to support qualified international students enrolled in postgraduate programs (Master’s and PhD.)

Eligibility Criteria for the Scholarship

Master’s Eligibility Criteria

The scholarship supports international students pursuing a Master’s degree at Khalifa University. Scholarship eligibility is assessed as part of the admission process and applicants are not required to submit a separate scholarship application. The number of available scholarship slots is limited. All applicants are evaluated and mapped to a specific scholarship Tier on the basis of academic merit and other relevant factors, in line with Khalifa University’s strategic priorities, rules and regulations. Meeting the eligibility criteria for a specific Tier does not guarantee a scholarship award.

  • Be a foreign national
  • Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline with a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.0 out of 4.0, or equivalent (e.g. an upper second-class honours in a UK-style degree, from a reputable accredited institution).
  • A minimum level of English proficiency in the form of either:
  • iBT TOEFL (internet-based test) score of 91 or equivalent, or
  • Overall academic IELTS score of 6.5, or
  • 1550 EmSAT English score
  • A minimum quantitative score of 150 in the General Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is required for admission to all Master of Science programs. Applicants must attempt all three sections of the GRE.
  • A minimum of two referee recommendations (provided via online form).
  • Statement of purpose (500-1,000 words).
  • Admission interview.

 Eligibility for PhD. Programmes

The scholarship supports international students pursuing a Doctoral degree at Khalifa University. Scholarship eligibility is assessed as part of the admission process and applicants are not required to submit a separate scholarship application. The number of available scholarship slots is limited. All applicants are evaluated and mapped to a specific scholarship Tier on the basis of academic merit, research potential and other relevant factors, in line with Khalifa University’s strategic priorities, rules and regulations. Meeting the eligibility criteria for a specific Tier does not guarantee a scholarship award.

  • Be a foreign national
  • Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline with a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.5 out of 4.0 or equivalent from a reputable accredited institution (for Bachelor’s to PhD direct admission), or
  • Completion of a Master’s degree in a relevant discipline with a minimum CGPA of 3.25 out of 4.0 or equivalent from a reputable accredited institution.
  • A minimum level of English proficiency in the form of either:
  • iBT TOEFL (internet-based test) score of 91 or equivalent, or
  • Overall academic IELTS score of 6.5, or
  • 1550 EmSAT English score
  • A minimum quantitative score of 150 in the general Graduate Record Examination (GRE). Applicants must attempt all three sections of the GRE.
  • A minimum of two referee recommendations (provided via online form).
  • Statement of purpose (500-1,000 words).

  • Medical insurance coverage for full-time international students sponsored by Khalifa University.
  • Mobilization and demobilization flights (between home country and Abu Dhabi) for full-time overseas international students, subject to approval.
  • Coverage of UAE visa application fees for full-time international students.
  • 50% waiver of tuition fees (for Tier III full-time students)

For PhD. Scholarships

  • Full coverage of tuition fees.
  • Basic monthly stipend of 20,000 AED.
  • Additional monthly allowance of 20,000 AED, subject to approval and meeting scholarship progression criteria.
  • Textbooks provided by the University.
  • Support to attend international research conferences, subject to approval.
  • Medical insurance coverage for full-time international students sponsored by Khalifa University.
  • Mobilization and demobilization flights (between home country and Abu Dhabi) for full-time overseas international students, subject to approval.
  • Coverage of UAE visa application fees for full-time international students.
  • Commitment to work with Khalifa University or a nominated entity upon graduation for a period equivalent to the period of study. The University reserves the right for any reason not to offer the student a post after graduation.
  • 75% waiver of tuition fees. (for Tier III Research Path with work commitment)
  • 50% waiver of tuition fees (for Tier IV Research Path with work commitment)

Required Documents to be Submitted

  1. Certified copy of Bachelor’s/Master’s degree certificate (as applicable)
  2. Equivalency certificate issued by the UAE Ministry of Education for applicants who have graduated from institutions outside of the UAE. To apply for your Equivalency Certificate, visit the UAE Ministry of Education Equivalency Certificate page and start the process as soon as possible as it is a lengthy process.
  3. Official school transcript showing the grading scale.
  4. English language proficiency score certificate (IELTS, TOEFL, or EmSAT).
  5. Official TOEFL score reports can be sent directly by your institution to Khalifa University of Science and Technology using the institutional TOEFL code 0960.
  6. Graduate Record Examination (GRE) score report. Official score reports can be sent directly to Khalifa University of Science and Technology using the institutional GRE code 0822.
  7. Detailed Curriculum Vitae (CV).
  8. Statement of Purpose (500 to 1,000 words).
  9. Passport-style photograph on a white background.
  10. Copy of valid passport. International applicants who reside in the UAE should also upload a clear copy of their valid UAE visa.
  11. Copy of Family Book (Khulasat Al Qaid). This is required for UAE National applicants only.
  12. Valid UAE national ID card (for national and international applicants currently residing in the UAE).
  13. Statement of Purpose (500-1,000 words).
  14. Research Statement (500 to 1,000 words). This is for PhD applicants only.
