Sabanci University Scholarships for International Students—Fully Funded 2024

Sabanci University is now accepting applications from International Students for its undergraduate and postgraduate scholarship programmes. These scholarships are fully funded and cover accommodation, living expenses, et cetera. Applicants must, however, apply for an undergraduate programme and state in their form that they would like to be considered for a scholarship.

With science, technology, and social structures advancing day by day, the world needs more qualified individuals who possess the knowledge and skills required to pursue a career anywhere in the world. Aware of this pressing issue, in 1994 the Sabancı Group decided to establish a “world university” led by the Sabancı Foundation.

The seeds of Sabancı University, the Sabancı Group’s most comprehensive social responsibility project in the field of education, were sown in the summer of 1995, at a search conference in which 50 academics from 22 countries as well as students and representatives from the private sector participated. The conference, however, was just the beginning, as it marked the start of an extensive process during which the leading educational institutions in Turkey and across the world were examined to find out how they work and identify the fundamentals that made them successful.

In the end, instead of choosing one university as a template or replicating existing examples and institutions, a new and unique university was designed. Since 1999, when students began enrolling, Sabancı University itself has set an example for many universities.

Eligibility Criteria for the Scholarship

For undergraduate admission

Students who have graduated from an institution equivalent to Turkish high schools and those who are in their last year of high school may apply to the undergraduate programs
Candidates should submit one of the exams/diplomas with a valid score accepted by the University and enter their exam or diploma information and the score correctly on the online application form.

For postgraduate admission

Hold an undergraduate degree with or be registered in the last term of an undergraduate program
Candidates applying for the PhD Programs with a BA degree must hold a 3.00/4.00 GPA. The candidates who graduated from institutions which apply a scale other than the “X out of 4.00” system must provide a conversion table or an official letter of evidence from their institutions.
Candidates applying for the PhD Programs with a Master’s Degree must hold a “Master with Thesis” degree. Candidates whose diplomas or transcripts do not contain such information must provide an official letter of evidence from their institutions.

Admission conditions for each graduate program offered by Sabanci University are determined by the respective graduate schools in line with the specific requirements of the program.

Required Documents

Undergraduate

A copy of one of the exam/diploma result(s) with a valid score accepted by Sabancı University
If graduated, High School Diploma (if in another language other than Turkish or English, a notarized translation should also be submitted)
Official transcript, showing all courses and grades taken in the entire high school education, approved by the high school authority. Uploaded transcripts that are without a wet signature and stamp or without an e-signature, which can be verified online, will not be taken into consideration.
If taken before, a language proficiency exam score accepted by Sabancı University
If the applicant had/continues to have secondary education in Turkey, the following documents are required:
Residence Permit Copy for those with foreign nationality
Blue Card Copy or Official Letter for Renouncement from Turkish Nationality for those who renounced Turkish citizenship

Residence Permit Copy or an official document that shows the date of acquisition of Turkish citizenship (such as Vukuatlı Nüfus Kayıt Örneği or court decision) for those who acquire Turkish citizenship not by birth

NOTE: Please note that your academic background, reference letters, exam results, transcripts, interview results and any document showing your academic success such as prizes in the competitions, and any Olympiad certificates will be considered by the Scholarship Committee. Therefore, you should not miss out on uploading these types of documents. The scholarship committee reserves the right to request additional documents and/or conditions from prospective students. Once you are granted a scholarship during the admittance, it goes on for your regular education period.

Application Process

There is no separate application process to apply. If you are a Home or International applicant applying for an undergraduate or postgraduate program, you will be automatically considered for the scholarship, provided you submit your course application by the deadline below.

In partnership with the Chevening International Scholarship, the University of Leicester is now accepting applications for the Chevening-Leicester Scholarships, offering students the opportunity to pursue a one-year postgraduate research program.

About the University

Eligibility Criteria for the Scholarship

Eligible applicants for the Chevening-Leicester Partner Scholarship must be from Chevening-eligible countries (excluding India) and studying a one-year taught master course within the College of Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities or the School of Geography, Geology and the Environment, starting in September 2025.

In addition to the above requirements, you will also need to fulfil the standard Chevening requirements below:

Be a citizen of a Chevening-eligible country or territory.
Commit to returning to your home country for at least two years after your scholarship ends.
Have at least two years of work experience (2,800 hours).
Hold an undergraduate degree that qualifies you for a UK master’s programme.
Apply to three different and eligible UK university courses. You must have received an unconditional offer from at least one of these course choices by the references and education documents deadline listed on the application timeline.
Before applying for a Chevening Scholarship, you need at least two years (2,800 hours) of work experience. This can include:
- Full-time employment
- Part-time employment
- Voluntary work
- Paid or unpaid internships
- Experience gained during mandatory employment for your degree does not count. You can combine up to fifteen different work periods to meet the requirement.

You are not eligible if you:

Hold British or dual British citizenship (unless you are a citizen of a British Overseas Territory or hold BN(O) and are applying from Hong Kong).
Hold refugee status in a country not eligible for Chevening. However, if you are a citizen of an eligible country and hold refugee status in another eligible country, you are eligible for a scholarship.
Are an employee, former employee, or relative of an employee of the UK government, British Embassies/High Commissions, the British Council, the Association of Commonwealth Universities, or sponsoring UK universities. Employees, former employees, or relatives of an employee of Chevening Partner organisations are eligible to apply, but if the employment took place within the last two years, you cannot receive a Chevening Partner Award from the organisation from which you work, previously worked, or are affiliated with through relatives.
Have previously studied in the UK on a UK government-funded scholarship.
