University of Manitoba Graduate Scholarship in Canada 2024

Applications for postgraduate scholarship programs are currently open at the University of Manitoba, Canada. With an annual allocation exceeding $2 million, these university graduate fellowships aim to champion and nurture academic brilliance among full-time Masters and PhD candidates. These prestigious awards are granted to students who have showcased outstanding intellectual prowess and academic achievement, with recommendations provided by their respective departments or units to the Faculty of Graduate Studies for consideration for a UMGF (University of Manitoba Graduate Fellowship).

Duration: Up to 24 months for Masters Students and Up to 48 months for Doctoral students

Eligibility Criteria for the Scholarship

1. Minimum admission grade point average of 3.00 based on their admission to their current graduate program. Some departments require a higher GPA to be eligible;

2. Have been admitted to a graduate program at the University of Manitoba as a Master’s or Ph.D. student. Pre-masters and Occasional students are not eligible.

3. Not have an active, admission‐related hold on their student account during their provisional admission period.

4. Be registered full‐time in a graduate program of study in the unit that recommends them for a UMGF, if they hold a UMGF award.

5. Show great promise as researchers and as graduate students;

Benefits of the Scholarship

1. UMGF master’s awards are valued at $14,000 per year for 12 or 24 months, for up to a total of $28,000.

2. UMGF doctoral awards are valued at $18,000 per year for 12, 24, 36 or 48 months, for up to a total of $72,000.

Please note: All fields eligible except pre-Master’s, Occasional students, MBA, MFin, and MSCM. Recipients can work unlimited hours, full or part-time, and maintain their UMGF, as long as they remain full-time graduate students, meet graduate program requirements, and meet conditions outlined in the current UMGF Award Holder’s Guide:

Required Documents for a Master’s Application

  1. You must have, as a minimum, an Honours (four-year bachelor’s) degree or equivalent from a recognized college or university.
  2. Some of our departments may have higher standards and additional criteria. These may include admissions tests such as the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or the Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT), a statement of research interests or experience in the field.
  3. Degree(s) Certificates(s)
  4. Transcripts of Records of your Degree(s)
